Tonight I had to venture out with the whole clan while my hubby is at work. We were out of milk and I have been putting off going to the store this week, but tonight was the night. I happened to skim the new Safeway ad that came yesterday while I was going through the mail and noticed they had another one of their buy 4 save $4 mix and match sales going on. Last time they had this in December I bought 4 boxes of Froot Loops for $3 total.
I went to my favorite local savings site, springsbargains.com and looked to see how the coupons that were available would match up with the sales. I printed off a few coupons and away we went.
This is my receipt:Total spent OOP (out of pocket): $10.50
Total Savings (Safeway Discounts/Sale + Coupons): $30.58..... 74% WOOT!!!
This is what I bought:
4 boxes of Fruit by the Foot, on sale for $1 each when you buy 4
4 boxes of Fiber One granola bars (love these!!) $2 each when you buy 4
4 boxes of Quaker Oatmeal 10pk $1.50 each when you buy 4
Coupons used:
(2) $1/2 Betty Crocker Fruit Snack coupons from bettycrocker.com (hit back and print twice)
(1) $1/2 Fiber One granola bar coupons from boxtops4education.com (hit back and print twice)
(2) .40/1 Fiber One granola bar coupons from paper (these are doubled at Safeway)
(2) $1/1 Quaker Oatmeal coupons from Quaker.com (one print per computer, used two laptops)
Plus I had an additional .90 in savings on my Safeway card that I had loaded on Shortcuts.com
I used this little trip to get our much needed milk (not pictured, it was in another transaction for my WIC items) and to stockpile some items that we will use. The kids LOVE oatmeal and at an average of .87 cents a box, that is a great price to stock up! The granola bars and fruit snacks are packed away for snacks, nice to have on hand for after school or for a drive in the car. I told the kids just because we have all these goodies in the house we will NOT be devouring them within the next week or so.
I also walked out with a $2.50 off my next purchase coupon because General Mills is running a promo (thru 1/24 I think) if you buy 4 Betty Crocker fruit snacks you get $2.50 off your next purchase, which is for anything basically you can buy at the store, not for GM or BC products.
Cinnamon Toast Crunch ( a big family fav here) is also $1.50 each when you buy 4 and I was ready to stock up, but they were out. I am going to try and go again tomorrow to see if it is restocked and buy 4 or 8. I have the $2.50 already to put towards it, plus two $1/3 coupons, so 8 boxes of cereal would cost me $7.50 (.93 a BOX!!). And that would last us a good while, combined with the oatmeal I got on sale.
That is even worth driving to another Safeway that isn't two minutes from our house.

Doesn't that feel good? I never quite did that good at Safeway, but I do all the time at Albertsons. I don't even print the ones off that are online. I just use the coupons from the weekly ads and from the Sunday paper and it still saves us a ton.
