The rumors are true.
I have fallen in love once again.
It was unexpected and even unfathomable that it could happen like this.
When we first met online I just thought he would serve a simple purpose, possibly be able to fill a need for me.
Honestly, I was apprehensive about starting a commitment of this magnitude, but I am so glad I did.
The kids met him soon after I brought him home for the first time, although they were apprehensive at first and a bit timid, they love to chase him around and play.
Friends, Family, the great wide Internet world...
meet my new found love.
His nickname, which the kids gave him, is "The Machine".
His real name is iRobot Roomba. I found him on Amazon.com, as a factory refurbished model while doing my Christmas shopping for my kids last fall, and after a lot of online research and price comparisons, I had him shipped to me. My Christmas gift to myself. And oh, what a gift he has been.
I turn him on at night before I head off to bed and in the morning I awake to my carpets vacuumed and my hardwood floors swept clean. He is magical.
When he is done cleaning he goes back to his little charger in the kitchen and docks and powers up and awaits his chance to clean again. Eager to help and always available. What's not to love?
I abhor vacuuming and any form of floor care. I am not a fan of any type of cleaning in all honesty, but I do like having a semi-presentable home, so clean I must at times.
With the new addition to our little family I no longer have to pick up crushed goldfish on the carpet; or like this evenings taco meal that half ended up on the floor... I didn't fret my little head about climbing around on hands and knees under the dining table picking up shredded cheese and lettuce, I waited until the munchkins were asleep in their room, and set The Machine to work. 45 minutes later, no evidence remains of taco night, or of the small dirt clods from little one's rain boots scattered about the floor.
Aah Love. Such a many splendorous thing. Or something like that.
The simple satisfaction, and well, I dare I say ELATION I experience at having clean floors.
I think my love of The Machine stems from it making me feel like a better woman, a better mom, perhaps even a better potential wife... there is just something about having my floors vacuumed and swept that makes me feel as though I am more on top of things than I think I am. I mean, heck, I work full time, raising two small kids on my own, I have a never ending pile of laundry that I am drowning in, have little to no social life; but gosh darn it, my floors look dang good. I must be doing something right.
The Machine was well worth every penny of the $142.61 I paid. Forget Eharmony babe, I'm sticking with iRobot.
